[...]. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy with Right Ventricular Involvement. CTICases. Published October 24, 2014. https://str-case-explorer.pages.dev/c/pzwac
Imaging findings
Severe concentric/symmetric hypertrophy of the left ventricle (25-30mm thickness) with obliteration of the cavity during systole. Diffuse thickening of the right ventricular wall, with a hypokinetic right ventricle. Delayed enhancement consistent with myocardial fibrosis was seen in the inferolateral left ventricle.
Key takeaways
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) commonly involves the left ventricle, but a significant percentage (up to 33% in studies) can also show increased right ventricular wall thickness, often diffuse and without fibrosis in the right ventricle. This is an important, though sometimes overlooked, feature of HCM.
